Jesus mentioned entering the kingdom of God in luke 18

in luke 18:22 it says when jesus heard these things ... THESE? the rich ruler just said one sentence.. I guess though he said more than one word .. is that why the KJV uses the word THESE?
(Maybe you don't have to answer this one.. it might not be that important but I was curious)

Did the rich man have no wife? if he did how would he support his wife if he was to sell everything and give to the poor?

is it because israel was to be set apart from the other nations? why did they have to be set apart?

was there many laws because israel had to be holy for the messiah to come?
but not all laws help a person to be holy.. like you can't eat pig meat.

why was there stoning? so the people left of israel would fear God and try to obey His commandments? I guess for st mary to be holy the people around her would have to be less sinful than other people so they do not provide a stumbling block for her to sin...

and why did st mary have to be sinless before giving birth to Christ if she had to ? I think I might understand why she had to give birth to Christ as a virgin but not why she had to be sinless... could not the holy spirit sanctify her womb so her sins to not affect Christ at all?

Why were some people stoned and other people not? david commited adultery but God spared him and did not have him killed..

However, I believe Christ was very clear on this in his famous speech that he has not come to destroy but rather to fulfill the scripture.

why then would He be tempted by satan.... "If you are the Son of God..." this temptation would not be a temptation it seems to me if He knew He had seen Abraham before..

do you think before He was tempted for 40 days He chose not to remember certain things or something?

I had a question, and its been bothering me for a while.

The Catholic celebrate Christmas the 25th of December... but they celebrate the day that the three wise men came on the sixth of January...

Also, when the three wise men went to Betlehem, they first went to Jerusalem to ask Herodes about the (already) born King. And it seems logical to me that their camels weren't that fast that they came from the East, to Jerusalem and after that went to Betlehem, all in one day.

So my question is the following: how long did the Holy Family stay in Betlehem, in the stable, and how long did it take the three wise men to get there.

I suppose they didn't arrive at the day of Birth itself. Or were they travelling since July?

And another thing: Where was the Holy Family when the angel appeared to Josef and told him that he had to go to Egypt? Also in the stable?

I'm sorry guys, I know, a lot of questions, but I'd love to see them answered.

Is satan bound now because he has not power over us anymore to make us sin since Jesus died (and maybe since he rose too) ?
and because we have power to resist him?

but could not the old testament people resist satan? was not David and Moses holy and did they not resist sin?

Why did Jesus have to be born of a virgin? why could He not be born of Joseph's seed? do you think He would inherit the sin nature if that was the case? but sex is not a sin..
could God not have prevented Jesus from inheriting the sin nature even if He was born normally?

First what is the essence of christianity, to go to heaven, to Love the lord etc. right? (if this is wrong just say so because it will disprove the next part)

1)Going to heaven
-If going to heaven is the ultimate goal is that just a selfish desire for happiness...heaven is known as "the good place" and hell as "the bad place" so is going to heaven just a desire to feel good? is it just utilitarianist thinking that we strive for heaven on earth, denying pleasure here on earth so that we attain eternal pleasure in heaven?

2)Loving the Lord
-Where does love for God come from? Is it just a sense of duty since he gave up so much, became man, died on the cross, and resurrected for us? Is it just the feeling that we owe God something or is it something more?

If the Son is the mind of God then the Son existed forever for God always had a mind and must have always had a mind to be able to create anything...

Why do we say He was born of the Father? wouldn't that mean He didn't exist for some time.. but then we say before all ages.. so He must have existed always..

How can He be born before all ages?

I've been wondering about speaking in tongues for a long time, and I'm a little confused about this topic.

I never understood why we would always be so quick to judge other people who claim to be speaking in tongues. There are some verses in the Bible that I do not understand, and I can see why the pentecostal church would interpret these verses differently than we would. So, would someone please explain the following verses...

"For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries." -1 Corinthians 14:2
It seems like St. Paul is saying that there is more than one type of tongues that can be given by the Holy Spirit, because he says that those speaking in tongues do not speak to men, but to God. The other kind of tongues that can be given by the Holy Spirit is where you speak to men instead of God. For example, when St. Peter spoke to 3,000 people and each one understood him in their own languages. In this case, St. Peter was talking to men. I'm sure I'm not interpreting this right, so can someone explain this to me?
Also, another thing in this verse is that St. Paul says that no one understands the person speaking in tongues. Does this explain why people don't understand those who are "speaking in tongues"? This verse seems sort of out of context because the rest of this chapter is about how important it is for other people to understand you if you speak in tongues. So why does he write that no one will understand the person who is speaking in tongues?

Why is it that in the Old Testament there are so many rules and laws layed down by God that were later diminished in the New Testament ? What happened to God never changing ?

How could God allow the taking of one anothers lives.. or the torture and death of sinners. Aren't they the ones that need the most help ? And what about the Sabath and all that stuff ... ?

Animals cannot take on the punishment of being seperated from God since they do not have a spirit? is that true?

Since God is Unlimited can't He make it that an animals can take on our sins?

Was Jesus' death really sufficient? He did not take on our punishment of being seperated from God forever but only for a few hours (was He even seperated from God?)
