i just had a quick question.

In school we're learning about human nature, and the oppinions of philosophers. So i'm writing an essay on my personal oppinion versus the oppinion of the philosophers, and I was wondering, how did God create the nature of humans to be? I know he made humans in his likeness, but if he made the nature of humans good and perfect how would we sin? Or if we are in the likeness of our creator, than it couldnt be evil. So did God create the nature of humans as "just is"?

I'm really curious.

THE BELOW

Hi, what does this word mean?
hi, what does this word " Paraliminal" mean??Coz its in quotation marks(so i assume its not a word) and its not in the dictionary, so thanks;-)

A breakthrough "Paraliminal" way
to dramatically improve your vocabulary

I couldn't find it in the dictionary either, but looking on Google it seems to me that it is like 'Subliminal' but where in a subliminal message you don't realise you are hearing the messages that are being given to you, with 'Paraliminal' you do and are awrae of them.

I cut this example below. It seems to be associated with a lot of self help stuff..

"Even though the name sounds like “subliminals,” Paraliminals are a completely different animal. There are no hidden subliminal messages on the CDs. What’s unique about Paraliminals is that you actually hear a different voice in each ear. That might sound strange — or even overwhelming — but the way it’s implemented is pleasantly relaxing."

As many of you know already for the past couple of weeks ive really been trying to gather information on how to defend the orthodox faith when it comes to protestant doctrine and i find that one of the biggest errors in the protestant doctrine is sola fide, made by martin luther. That doctrine means being saved by faith alone and not works. I have 1 question however... in the bible, when James is clearly statiing that works and faith are both required to get attain salvation... was the works hes talking about things like the sacrements, or works as in being a good person? Because I think hes talking about works as in sacrements because he says "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?" if anyone has any comments or feels that i am wrong, or can provide even stronger evidence than this verse i found please do so.. I want as much info as possible... BY the way.. I was watching a video on youtube about a protestant sermon on sola fide and i am going to take the time to make my own video and will answer this person back.. but before i do so i was wondering if anyone could help at all with any information that would be useful in answering back to this person....

thank you everyone, God bless

Hello,

I'd like to ask your input/opinion on an issue that perhaps many of you are already or have already encountered.

If you are in the diaspora, is Coptic dying out? Are the Coptic hymns being replaced with English ones??

Coptic as a language is a language, in its own right. I don't particularly think our Orthodox faith is dependent on a particular language, but I do feel that the words, the spirituality, and the "way" we pray should be independent of the language.

What I find is that many songs, although theologically correct, are being sung in the Coptic Church in lieu of traditional coptic songs. I think these songs are perhaps "theologically" correct, but not really "orthodox" correct. The fact that they do not contradict our faith does not necessarily mean that they are in accordance with our orthodox spirituality.

There is going to be an issue with the Coptic language for generations to come within the Church; whether in Egypt OR outside Egypt. But what is the answer? Do we do away with Coptic language? or do embrace it even more than before??

What about your youth who neither understand arabic, NOR coptic? What does an arabic speaking Church offer them?? The Coptic songs, when translated in English don't sound as good. Should learning "coptic" be therefore an important part of any sunday school curriculum??

My Opinion:
------------

Well, just so you know, I'd like to explain where I stand:

I think the Pope should write for more hymns in English. Having said that, until that day comes, i don't feel singing in English nor introducing "theologically correct" English songs in our CHurch is the answer. I feel in doing this, we will dilute our Orthodox Spirituality. Orthodoxy, is not only about our dogma, but also about our "way" of prayer. If we introduce songs that do not subscribe to our spiritual philosophy, nor wisdom, i fear at that point, we would have done a huge disservice to our Church, and to our future generations.

Happy New Year to all of you,

Hello all

Yesterday in my church we remembered in the gospel how we must forgive 'seventy times seven'(Luke 17).This forgiveness, according to the gospel, is conditional upon the wrong doer repenting. I have always followed the belief that forgiveness should be unconditional. Indeed both our Lord and St Stephen asked that the sins of their persecutors would not be laid upon them-but there is no indication that they repented.

In families and everyday life we have to forgive wrongs without the overt repentance of the person causing the wrong in order to keep the peace.

What do the Fathers say?
I know people say consider rather the end of your life than the end of the world be ready.. now to be honest I am in my twenties.. and I do not believe I will die soon.. because I am trying to repent and have made some progress but I do not think God will take me without giving me more chances to do good deeds and guiding me more.. Is He angry with me that much? (but I know our God is love) Didn't St Anthony tell himself he may die today.. everyday.. or many days? (this way he would not dare to sin) how can we do this? wouldn't this make you dislike God atleast every morning.. thinking God does not want you to enjoy your life today (ofcourse you will enjoy life if you enjoy God but you are not to even enjoy the sun or any innocent fun like board games)

(David said Your loving kindness is better than life... therefore my lips shall praise You and my soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness.." maybe the order I said it is wrong.. I don't know exacly what he meant)

. you should rather live in extreme penitence.. maybe eat nothing and do 100000 pushups.. God have mercy.. but I suffer to do 20.. also do not dare to move your body one inch.. okay I am exagerrating.. and I just realised this is kind of the hard life of the monk.. but I may not have all the facts.. I think they might of enjoyed life.. God said in prosperity be joyful.. I don't know what to say else.......

Hi. Why can't a woman in CHurch read the Bible nor raise her voice. Why did Saint Paul say that she should not raise her voice (nor speak)??

Why also does it say that a woman becomes unclean after having a period, and that no one should touch her? (in the old testament).

Why also cannot a woman enter the Alter (where the alter is)??

Thanks

My family and I use to always sit down and pray the Agbeya, but eventually we stopped, my father and mother use to give 10% of there money, and now its just some money here and there, feeling like it wasnt really important.. this was all 2 years ago... 2 years ago we moved into a huge house in a very nice area.. Our old area that we lived in 2 years ago was full of drug dealers, theives, and was just a dirty apartment. we still go to church, but only once in a while, and the past 2 years we would just go to church just because its routine... we didnt think it was that important, or that bad to skip church to sleep in, or skip church for other plans.. Now, we are in a very bad fincancial state. My father is struggling as a real estate agent, he cant seem to sell any homes, and our old apartment is being rented, we couldnt sell it.. therefore were still paying for it, and losing almost $1000 a month because of it... My dad was really really upset that he cant give us everything we want because he just doesnt have the money.. and for the first time he had to borrow money from his brother and sister just so we could stay in this house..

We got this very nice house for cheap, very cheap... which is the only reason we got it in the first place... Now we are in such a bad financial state that we are actually considering moving back to the old small apartment, and if we do, theres like no chance wel ever live in another house again.. we just cant afford it... This is the first HOUSE ive ever lived in in my entire life, and i love it... We dont know what to do.. we dont want to go back to our old area thats full of drug dealers and bad people.. This place we live in it so clean and full of very nice people.. It was defiently one of the greatest blessings weve every gotten from God... ANd now, we dont know whats gonna happen.

I know this is a wakeup call from God... hes calling us back to him... and we are definetly coming back... we pray together again.. we almost always go to church... were fasting right now.. and we study the bible together... we need more prayers, my entire family is so upset about this... I was having such a good day at work today and i came home and got one of the worst news ive ever gotten in my life.. moving back.. We need prayers, i need suggestions, on what i should do... please please pray for us.
