Hi,

I have a question:

Imagine that 2 countries are playing in a tournament.

Is it right that they pray before the Tournament to win? Surely if each side is religious and prays to win - who will God listen to? And isn't that putting God in a tough spot?

Is it therefore right to pray to God that your team wins (whether you are playing in the team or a spectator)?

And then if you pray, surely the right prayer is to wish the other team the best? So, if you love your neighbour, you should pray that the other team wins. But isn't that stupid also to want the other team to win?

Man this question is driving me crazy. Why do I think so much??

I need a vacation.

Hi! I'm a little concerned because I've found that recently I don't feel God in my life. What I mean by that is that although I know He's working in me and to help me, I don't feel that strong bond that draws me close to him. Even when I pray, read the Bible, or go to Church, I'm happy that I do all those things but it feels like my heart is empty.

SO, my questions are:
1. How do I get the Holy Spirit to start working in me again?
2. How do I build a strong relationship with God?
3. How do I keep that relationship once its built?

Thanks. God Bless :)

There is a growing number of militant scientific atheists and I grow tired of hearing spew their hatred and their lies. They scoff at the bible, they scoff at the church, and they scoff at God Himself. These scientific atheists like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Daniel Dennett have written books designed to make a person question their beliefs by using science and false logic. The claim evolution is a fact because they have "evidence" that it is true, well who's interpretation is place on the "evidence"? If two people with two opposing views on how the world and man came into being dig up a bone both of them will have a different interpretation of it, based on the evidence so to speak. Should we even consider evolution to be partially true? Absolutely not, it is incompatible with scripture, completely. So we shouldn't even consider it since it cannot logically and scientifically explain the origin or beginning of life. The big bang is the most widely accepted theory as to how everything came into being as this speck of matter just existed, this is where they start off, and it began to spin faster and faster until it exploded and there you have it! there are some problems with this, first the matter came from where? nothing according to scientists, so something from nothing even though we cannot observe this today, whats stopping that from happening again? even more disturbing is where did the space come from? first there had to be space, an area for the matter that came from nothing to exist that would mean time. space HAD to come first for the matter to exist, but why did the space come to be FOR the matter to come into existence out of nothing? this shows a creator not a coincidence. according to science matter just decided to be after space decided it would make room for this matter to exist. sound like a fairy tale? Of course, they apply this term to our belief without being able to explain their own. They reply that it is only a theory and thats how science works. So WE have to try and explain everything to you, without saying it is faith, while you (the scientists) can just say, "its science". It seems as though these militant scientific atheists have traded in the Christian mystery of origins for another unexplainable mystery. Since science deems it necessary to delve into origins then how can we take them seriously if they cannot explain the beginning or the middle, just the end? If evolution is the only way to explain how we came to be, why were all the founders blatantly racist, and why did they support eugenics? Evolution serves as the catalyst to move a person of faith to a person of no faith. No believer can just outright reject God, this is why evolution is so dangerous, it is a delusion.

Guys ive been thinkin about this for a while now and no matter how much i meditate on it i just dont get it. We all know that you dont have to be Orthodox to go to heaven, we know that those who are going to heaven are NOT only of the orthodox faith, we know good catholics are going, good protestants are going, good baptists are going, and so on.

So what makes the Orthodox Church the true church if in fact you do not need to be apart of it to go to heaven? I really dont understand it, and a perfect example is the protestants dont believe the communion is christs true body and blood, and just hand it out in crackers and grape juice, while Christ himself said whoever does NOT eat my felsh and drink my blood has no life in him. How is it that these lifeless people according to scripture trully DO have life in them, otherwise they would not be able to go to heaven. I have a friend who says she speaks to God daily, her friend who is also protestant like herself has visions of things that will happen and in the end they always do happen. They are both madly in love with Christ, and neither of them are part of the Orthodox Church (though they were both baptised in the Orthodox Church) neither of them take communion, and surprisingly NEVER EVER FAST A DAY IN THEIR LIFE. That i truly dont understand, but i know that in the protestant church, fasting is considered really nothing, its good because its "in the bible" but there are no fasts, and they rarely or almost NEVER talk about it.

Yet, despite all the requirements they have inherited eternal life, and no one can say to them "your not going to heaven" because guarenteed, the good of them are going to heaven. So what is a requirement if it is not truly required? Do you see what i mean? Why do we do so much, when so little is required? These people live happy Godly lives, and trust in the Lord, yet do not partake of his blood, do not fast, NEVER confess, yet they have been given eternal life. Now im not saying im jealous ofcourse, for clearly we have been given a much sweeter deal, who WOULDNT want to partake of HIS HOLY BODY AND PRECIOUSE BLOOD. But what im saying, Jesus made so many requirements for heaven, such as communion, confession, fasting, prayer etc... yet in the end, you dont need ANY of this to inherit eternal life BASED on the protestant Church, all you need is to believe and be a good person, the sacrements are of no effect in the protestant church and baptist churches and so on...

What does our Church have to say to this? Besides we do what the bible commands, im not talking about that, im talking about eternal life... WE SAY we NEED communion to inherit eternal life and SO DOES JESUS, yet this cannot be 100% true if people are going to heaven without it daily. Even though they KNOW OUR DOCTRINE and refuse to accept it. (im not talking about muslims and jews and buddists, im only talking about christian denominations.)

On Saturday i was taking confession with my priest and during the confession i was telling my priest serious things, but every now and again some one would come and talk to abouna and then he would come back, and i would be interrupted constantly, but i did confess sort of.... so anyways, i walked out after the absolution and i felt like i really didnt confess right or even scratch the surface, so later in the car with my mom i opened the application on my phone for the bible and it came up RANDOMLY as 1 Timothy 6 verse 12 and it directly stated " fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses" now i know there might be a hidden meaning behind the verse, or some other meaning that i didnt look hard into that will frustrate many of you, but i wanted to know since it just showed up randomly and i had it set on the book of Genesis dont you thing that its just a little weird?

but i just wanted to know should i just believe i confessed, or try again and see if i can get abouna to not be interrupted this time??? thanks in advance ;D
