Having just been closely connected with a funeral of a relation of mine I was impressed by the kindness and decency of all his colleagues and relatives.(He was a common British type of Christian-a non practising Anglican).

In general I would say that people are kind, decent and hospitable from whichever culture or religious grouping they come.

However being decent is not enough to warrant salvation. We need living faith.

I was sad when my uncle died. He was more charitable than me (an Orthodox Christian). He was kinder and always went the extra mile to help.Obviously I pray for his repose but if one is saved by being decent what is the point of struggling with the Faith? I wish there was universal salvation, as Origen taught. The Church condemned this teaching so where are our grounds for hope with those we are close to who are decent but not active Christians.

Please pray for me, as this issue has caused me trouble all my life.

What do you think?

How about the book of Ephesians? Even if a partner, in a marriage, loses his/her faith in Christ DURING the marriage, that is no reason for divorce either, as if you yourself love Christ, then you'll be righteous and stick with the person whom you married.

Even if you did not marry a person who was Christian, yet you had kids together, surely Christ would prefer that you remained together and not divorce over Him!??

Am I missing something, or is it OK to go and divorce someone because all of a sudden they don't love Christ as much as you??

Hi,

I have a question concerning the Nature of Christ.

We say that Christ was Complete Man, and Complete God.

If we look at the general composition of a man, we have:

* Mind (intellect, psyche, personality, character, charm, emotions etc)
* Soul (?? The spiritual element)
* Spirit (?? Another spiritual element apparently we have)
* Body (Eyes, nose, ears, throat, breathing, walking, speaking human being).

So, The Word of God became man. The Word was with God at the beginning of time, and the Word Was God.

So, this Word had a personality - His own personality when He was born.

So, did Christ have a dual personality? or ONE personality? and if One, how did it work?
So, He had the personality of the Human Being + Joined with the Personality of the Word? Is that Correct??

Can someone kindly explain to me, in terms of Personality, how all this worked.

For example, if the Word of God took flesh, then the Word of God was born all knowing. Therefore, Christ, could He speak when He was a baby, or did He have to learn. If He had to learn speech as a baby and a child, then WHICH part of Him knew language. Which part of Christ was the "I Am".

Thanks a lot.

hey everyone.
Iv been doing this survey for my project which is worth a lot of my final mark and i had decided to do my society and culture project on the coptic orthodox community. My teacher says that once you get into the project, you start to learn about many things and youll find yourself going through a journey which may be either good or bad.
Well in my case its kind of bad, because when i set up a survey to question those living in australia about the coptic orthodox faith, i found that one of my relatives had no belief in it at all. Like one of the questions were, "do you go to church", and others would be like "Do you take part in fasting and why" etc.
when my relatives would say no to the church question, i asked them well why, dont you belive? And their answer was that you dont have to go to church if you already know that god is in your heart, and they also said that the only thing you should be doing is give to the poor and all that other stuff, but yu dont need to fast etc.
this really scares me to death, knwing that those that are basically family dont even do the basic things that well others do. Plus theyr older than me so it was kind of like as if they were giving me a lecture and actually trying to make me not go to church.
please i dont know what to do, and trust me iv tried to talk to them about it but they say that its their life and their choices, and that one day ill be undergoing these changes of faith. they have also said that the church is very hypocritical. And to be honest this one got me. I honestly do think that some egyptians in the church are very hypocritical when it comes to the faith, and these are one of the things that makes me repell from the church.
please pray for me and my relatives. god bless.

Hello;

I was watching an older version of the Jesus movie two days ago when I suddenly began thinking about the betrayal of Judas to His Master.
Why was it necessary for Judas Ischariot to betray the Lord? So that the scriptures are fulfilled? If so, what is the reason behind such a scripture? In other words, what was the nature of Judas' betrayal?

Thanks for any clarifiction.

Does this exist?

I'm asking because - I attended a Catholic prayer meeting. OK.. it was a Charismatic catholic prayer meeting and it was in the basement of the Church where they had an alter. They started with a few hail Mary's... and Bible reading, and then when the music started, everyone started jumping up and down.

haha... it was so funny actually cos.. well.. it doesnt matter.. but it was hilarious (from where I was standing).

Anyway, I did tell someone there that I thought it was disrespectful to be dancing in front of the alter.

These are the responses they came out with - that I still haven't found an answer for:

- David danced before the tabernacle of the Lord.

THe other thing they came out with was "God would be happy to see His children dancing around Him" - but I thought that this was such a silly thing to say, I'm not even asking u to help answer it.

But, how can I answer them with such things ? It is true that David DID in fact dance before the Tabernacle..

Their excuse is that the joy in which david was dancing with, is the same as theirs and they want to dance with joy also for the Lord.

Someone was even doing an irish jig.. hahahah

Thanks for anyone here who can explain this.
