Hey everyone,
I wanted to talk about an important topic that has been lingering on my mind for a while, it is regarding the end of the world. We all know that no one knows the hour nor the day when it will happen but at the same time we have a lot signs that are becoming reality. Not just the wars and natural disasters (even though lately the trend and amount has increased dramatically in our generation) but also other signs.
For example, one of the signs is the establishment of the Jewish nation and there gathering from all over the world, which started back in the 1940's when Israel became an independent nation. Also from the parable of the fig tree, we know that the fig tree symbolizes the jewish nation and that God cursed it because it didnt bear fruits. However, Christ said when the fig tree becomes tender we should know that the summer is near. So if the fig tree symbolizes the jews, then their return to God is a sign of tenderness, a sign that the end is near.
In addition, as many can predict, the building of the temple will happen in the near future within a few years since they are very close to finding it. At that point, Elijah and Enoch will come back followed by the antichrist.
I have many things to say about this topic, for example some of the old testament prophecies, but I would like to see what others think regarding that.

Hello,

I was wondering at how a church father is defined. Many giants whom we refer as Church fathers had defended the true Apostolic Orthodxy faith against successive heresies. They struggled for the true faith, suffered untold difficulties and passed the the next stage of life truimphantly. They left us their wisdom and written materials for posterity.

Throughout the centuries, there has always been such church fathers who continued to defend the legacy of the Orthodox faith with the same stamina and valour as their forefathers. When we think or speak or qoute Chruch fathers, it mostly refers to those who lived from the beginning of Christianity until the middle ages ( I could be wrong, though). This classification makes me think,at one time in history, the era of the church fathers was over and many others who followed their footsteps at a later time are not mentioned in the same breath. Is this view right? If not, what is the definition or who is worthy to be called a church father ?

Thanks.

Hello,

Recently,a US judge has overturned the Californian gay marriage ban also known as Proposition 8.

Proposition 8 seems to be based on the belief that same sex couples simply are not as good as opposite sex couples. This belief may be naturally true, but it is not clear whether the authors of proposition 8 made their decision based on the biological natures of both genders or only on moral disapproval of Homo Sexuality. But assuming their decision is more of a moral question, I am beginning to wonder if this worldview is a proper basis on which to repudiate the will of some members of the community.

Here is what I mean; much of the opposition to opening the institution of gay marriage comes from those who profess godlines or to be religious. These people also believe that we are created in the likeness and image of God and with FREE WILL to choose what is wrong or right. They also understand that we are all equal in the sight of God.But what if one is HS by nature (could be possible) just as one is male or female ; black or white-? When the church vehemently opposes same sex union and denies a gay person access to religious sacraments, is that not messing with humans free will that was granted to them by God? I think, the church’s role should be to teach what is right and what constitutes grave sin rather than impose its moral authority or will on others.

If we are all equal before God and He has given us free will to choose , why does the church discriminate and say 'either or else'? In principle ,I am against Gay practice and marriage, but I am discovering, I have no right to deny them their human rights as creatures of God.Do I sound stupid?

Hi,

In the Bible, God tells the people of Israel the following:

(Numbers 31:17-18) - "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. 18"But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves."

So how exactly were the men meant to know who was a virgin or not? Maybe the women lied just to be freed?

Secondly, why is God asking the people of Israel to kill even the little children? What about those women who were mothers - why should they be killed? Why would God who put the commandment :"Thou Shalt not Kill" tell His people to go and kill?

OK.. this is a story from the case of the Midianites - but why did God tell His people to kill them?? Isn't killing just as bad as idolatory?? Isn't a sin a sin?
Surely it is a sin to have killed someone because they have sinned.

This issue is disturbing a lot of non Christians and atheists.

Please PLEASE only those with correct responses respond - that way this thread can be used as a reference to answer and clarify this issue.

Thanks

Hi,

In Col 1:18,the bible states;

"And he (Christ) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

This verse is saying the church is the body of Christ. If that is so, then the church is infalliable, since Christ can not err.

For example in John 16 :13, Jesus says at the last supper:

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

I understand this verse to mean the church is taught and guided by the Holy Spirit and therefore the church can not err ,be deceived or deliberatly choose untruth.

So my question is ;what do we mean when we say that some of the teachings of the RCC church or other Orthodox churchs that are not in full communion with us are not right? If we claim , for example, the RCC is erring, then we are virtually saying, that the RCC is not being guided by the Holy Spirit of truth and therefore is not the body of Christ or that a saint of the league of St Augustine and others who originated some of the teachings were not devinely inspired? This is to say the RCC has ceased to be the body of Christ and is no longer a church. Any ideas?

Hi,

I really thought I understood this topic.. but i still find it elusive.

Is judging bad? Is it wrong?

OK.. let's learn from examples. Please answer ONLY with examples, otherwise, we're never going to get anywhere with this topic.

Here's an example.

I was in the altar - and I wasn't a deacon, yet during the Holy Communion, a few kids were joking around and making noise. I told them to be silent. THen this monk that was in the altar with them, told me to be silent and he told them to go on and play.

Now, I was telling this story to a deacon, as an example of how SOME Church servants try to be "cool" in order to win the favour of those they are serving. Ultimately, what is happening, rather than serving Christ to others, they end up serving themselves, and using Christ to advance their egos.

There is NO other way but to describe it like this. Its clear. In my opinion, such behaviour is wrong. Church servants who do this are in a grave danger. I have even seen Church servants joke around in prayer meetings and stop the entire class because they were too busy laughing with some of the youth in the class. Where is the respect for the Church in any of this?? Am I not allowed to make a judgement and say such behaviour is unfitting for the service in the Church??? I am not at all condemning anyone, nor saying that this person, or that servant, or person is going to hell, or not. That's not my job. But, is making such judgements bad????

Jesus Son of Sirach

33	Better is he that hideth his folly, than the man that hideth his wisdom.

What do you think this verse means? does it mean we need to give our opinion on all things? NO.. I do not want to reply to all topics(not that anyone ever told me to) its too big of a problem for me.. I will post when I have no burdens or other negative things..hopefully I will not post things out of impulse and quickly .. because it will be from the devil probably.. I do not want to work alone.. others have to work with me ..
God be with us all

sorry
