In the liturgy the priest prays " Likewise also the cup after supper He mixed it of wine and water. He gave thanks.."

If I am not mistaken,the bible does not say that Jesus Himself mixed wine with water.Therefore,if that is so, we do not know for sure,unless we rely on the customs and traditions of wine mixing of the day.Perhaps,the practice of adding water has symbolic significance , but I do not think that it is necessary for the validity of the Holy Sacrament. I do not know if the mixing of water is in reference to the verse in (Proverbs 9:5): 'Drink the wine which I have mixed for you.? As you all aware, some church in the USA is planning to burn Korans to remember the 9/11 event.

Every other Christian denomination has repudiated this action, and I was wondering if it would not be a bad idea for the Coptic Orthodox Church to denounce such actions as unchristian also?

Why is this church gaining a lot of attention anyway? Its seems like a small bunch of crazy people who have got more attention than they deserve!?

As Orthodox Christians, we believe in the Creation. God created everything. He created man, the earth, the waters, etc.

How do you reconcile all this with Cave men or Evolutionary Theories that suggest that man evolved from primitive species?

So, cave men existed? How do you explain that?

When exactly did God create man?

Did God create dinasaurs , or did they evolve?

Scientists insist that the world startedf from a BIG BANG - How do you, as a Christian, relate to such theories? How does this impact your faith?

To the Coptic year, start with repentance and tears
We start with the nayrouz, where martyrs didn’t change their views
About their faith of Christ, they could not be enticed

Kiahk the month of praise, in it our hearts we raise
We sing about Saint Mary, and we become so merry
In the end Christmas comes by, our eyes look up high
Our God incarnate as a man, for His salvation plan

In toba and amsheer, the cold we fear
But have no fear, our Lord is here

We fast in bramahat, so we overcome any plot
From the devil, the prince of all evil
We call this fast Lent, in it we lament
After lent come holy week, in it we seek
Repentance and tears, as Jesus appears
On the cross with the spear, and on His cheek His tears

Now baramoda is here,  be of good cheer
Through His Resurrection, His plan is in perfection
He rose from the dead, after His blood was shed
He saved us all… so on His name let us call!


After is Pachons, in it is another chance
To praise saint Mary, the mother of Glory
The second heaven is born,  on her head the crown is worn
Let us not forget, the blessings we get
Our Lord Jesus came, and blessed Egypt’s name

Pa’ona comes along, and we remember the strong
Saint Moses the black, who repented and came back

Abib the month of Joy, we remember saint Bishoy
Who washed Christ’s feet, and his shoulder became a seat
To Christ the King of kings, the God of all things
along with the other saints, comes Isaiah the hermit
saint Marina saint Hilaria, the ascetic saint Fibronia
may our prayers, be always in their ears
remember us all, all the saints of the year

in every month, on the twelfth
we remember the head of the angels, Michael the Archangel
and the twenty first day,  we remember saint Mary
also in misra for our lady, the Theotokos saint Mary
we fast and we praise, for fifteen full days

Are there any experiences for anyone on this site with St. Mark?  Does anyone have any special items of St. Mark?

Have you ever wondered that there are no gold medallions made in Egypt for St. Mark?

If I were a guessing man, I would say that in the Churches of Egypt, 100% either have the church named after St. Mary or have an altar dedicated in her name.  I would say that St. George is close behind with maybe 75%.  Where is St. Mark on this statistic list?

I go to churches and sometimes he is not mentioned at all, except minimally in the 'Hitenis' and the Diptych of the Saints.

I received this image of an icon of HH Pope Kyrilllos dripping tears of blood in the monastery of St Mina (Maryoot).

If true,the ozzing of blood from an icon shows that our Lord is really sad at the multitude of our Sins. Please verify,if someone knows anything more about it.

I was having a chat with some Church servants, and they were saying that the Holy Spirit proceeds ONLY from the Father. Not from the Son, nor through the Son.

For me, I admit, this is quite a confusing topic.

A realy good friend of mine is looking for a wife. He wants a Christian wife. What should he do? What should he look for? How do you know if someone is REALLY Christian, and not just acting?

This isn't a topic that should go under PERSONAL ISSUES. (but if you disagree - please move it)

Let me explain why:

Marriage is a sacrament. Its not a personal issue. Your marriage is indeed a public and Holy affair. The selection of a wife/husband, isn't something trivial, but it should involve God from the start; even from the selection process.

But how does one choose?

What should you look for?

What questions should he ask a girl to know whether she really is who she says she is??

For me personally, I think God reveals everything to you; and its for you to decide. Everyone is probably at different spiritual levels, and these levels are manifested to you. that's my opinion. I was watching this video on youtube about St. Mary and have previously read this verse in the Holy Bible but kind of disregarded it...

Another thing I have noticed while studying this council in particular, is the way in which Pope Leo acted. St. Dioscorus gets alot of grief for how he acted, but Pope Leo acted like a madman and it seemed as if he acted on jealousy and personal gain more than anything. Possibly upset that Alexandria seemingly had more power than them. Pope Leo scolded St Dioscorus for allowing Eutyches back into the church, even tho Eutyches repented and recanted his view. (later on he did go back to them but after this council) Yet Leo had written a letter to Eutyches praising him for his zealous attitude.

Also, the Eastern Orthodox regard St Dioscorus as an "arch heretic" as well as St. Severus. Which to me is dumbfounding. There are people who say that his coming had been proclaimed in the bible.Does Christianity view him as a Saint,prophet and messenger of God or just as an ordinary human devoid of or with God's spirit?
