داود النبي والمرتل تكلم في كتاب المزامير.
قائلاً أذللت نفسي بالصوم والصلاة للمسيح الذاتي.

تمسكوا بالصوم والصلاة معاً وقوموهما بالطهارة التي للقديسين.
احبوا النشاط والبتولية واستحقوا الدهر الآتي بكرامات عظيمة.

كثيرة جداً الفضائل التي ردها الله لهم من أجل الصوم.
الأنبياء يحبون الصلاة بوقوفهم أمام عمانوئيل.

ايليا صعد إلى السماء بدالة من قبل الصلاة والصوم.
ايليا صرخ معلماً الشعب قائلاً ألبسوا مسحاً وصلوا جيداً.

ملكوت السموات لا تكون قريبة منا إلا بالصوم والغفران والناموس.
أيضاً الأنبياء بالصلاة والصوم والشفقة والتوبة.

يسوع المسيح ربنا صام عنا وعلمنا أن نتوب.
أربعين يوماً وأربعين ليلة في البرية بسر عظيم.

افهموا ذلك اليوم وتلك الساعة التي ﻟﻤﺠيئكم إلى ظلمة القبر.
اذكروا الدينونة أمام الحاكم وارفعوا أعينكم إلى السيد.

فلتنطق قلوبكم بالتماجيد والطهارة من قبل الصوم.
الصلاة والصوم يطهران نفوسنا بالوقوف في الصلاة.

فلنشكر ربنا يسوع لكي ينقل قلوبنا إلى السماء.
نرسل لك التسبيح الروحي ونسألك بقلب مستقيم.

جميع القديسين صاموا بدون ملل الأربعين يوماً.
من أجل نشاطهم وبتوليتهم استحقوا الحياة بالصوم.

كل شجرة ثابتة في الفردوس لا تستطيع للناس إدراكها.
عظيمة هي الكرامة التي استحقها نوح وبالصوم صنع الفلك.

ورثوا الحياة الدائمة وفرحوا مع المسيح الغفور.
قلبي وروحي طهرهما داخلا وخارجاً من الأفكار الشريرة.

اطلبوا السلام وجدوا في أثره لأن أعين الرب تحرسنا.
أميلوا سماعكم واسمعوا وصايا الرب واصنعوا السلام بغضكم لبعض.

احرسوا على الصوم بحرص عظيم لأن الصلاة بالليل تنير العقول.
اسمعوا مخلصنا في الإنجيل يقول أن بالصلاة والصوم يخرجان الشياطين.

إذا صمت ادهن رأسك واغسل وجهك وارفع عينيك إلى السماء.
قوموا سبحوا الإله الخالق لنستحق نحن كرامات عظيمة.

ونصرخ بصوت واحد قائلين ارحمنا يا الله واعطنا نعمة.
من أجل أسمك أيها المسيح ملكنا اصنع معي رحمة في ملكوتك.

لأني أخطأت إليك بكل نوع ونسألك خلصنا من الجحيم.
يا إله أبائنا ملك الدهور خبز الغد أعطينا اليوم.

ولا تدخلنا التجارب يا رب لكن نجنا بالمسيح.
قدوس قدوس أيها الوحيد الجنس السماء والأرض مملوءة من مجدك.

اغفر لنا يا إلهنا زلاتنا وظهر نفوسنا وقلوبنا وأجسادنا.
بقية أيامنا نمدح الصوم النقي والصلاة التي بلا ملل.

لكي تحفظ وصاياك واقبلنا إليك في ديارك.
ارفع عنا الآلامات الشريرة احسبنا مع قطيعك وخرافك.

اعطنا حظاً مع قديسيك واجعلنا مستحقين لكي نصنع مرضاتك.
آبائنا واخوتنا يا رب نيحهم في الفردوس إلى الانقضاء.

يا الله ثبتنا في الأمانة الأرثوذكسية بشفاعات والدتك مريم.
أيها المسيح مخلصنا ارحم شعبك وانعم لنا كلنا كعظيم رحمتك.
