Using Vain Repititions (Explanation)
« on: February 19, 2012, 06:04:50 PM »
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him." (Mt 6:7-8)

I never understood this verse. I wondered about it because, we repeat things in prayer all the time, such as in Kyrie eleyson, Lord have mercy, etc. Can someone explain this verse to me? Thanks!

Its late here so very brief. The key word is vain not repetitions. When every word is prayed with attention it cannot be in vain.
