  • we do this at my church on the feasts of the resurrection and the nativity. This is how we start the mass, the deacons come in to the tune of Eporo and the priest at the end while incensing to the oblation. Is this not done at other churches?
  • Very nice epchois_nai_nan well done! One of my favourite parts of the mass as well! Thanks for sharing
  • well said epchois, I never understood how people could say that "because we dont understand it we need to get rid of it" Should the solution be to learn it? I think its a very poor attitude to have in life.
  • So epchois_nai_nan, plz help me understand your point of view, are you saying that you want the Coptic Orthodox Church to have women priest and bishops?
  • Very well said Fr Peter, I also think that the ranks of deacons (psaltos, oghnostos especially) are handed out way to liberally. There should be hymns and church rites classes which should be compulsory to attend before ordination. Many times I have …
  • I know that the Greek Orthodox church changed their calendar to celebrate christmas on the 25th but still celebrate easter at the same time as the COC. Could we apply the same changes they did or will it not be suitable for  us???
  • Thanks for the explanation Epchoice nai nan! Could you plz also tell of the rule as to why it is "khee" and not "shee" if u know it. Thanks heaps!
  • lol yes, it's a conspiracy! It appears that this particular video was not not filmed by agapy but rather by a person in the congregation. The video is shaky and looks like it was not done professionaly. Mabey you did see this by agapy but they were …

  • Christ's Servant, i have heard this also, i'm not sure if that is the reason though.... I have only ever seen in done with a closed fist in the COC, not sure about other churches. I always thought it is done with a closed fist because we are not fal…

  • Here is an excerpt from the book "Spirituality of the Rites of the Holy Liturgy" by H.G Abba Mettaos, its a bit long but very insightful, I hope you find it usefull. The Coptic Church, in its humble and meek spirit, teaches her children three types…

  • I thought St Augustine was a recognised saint in the Coptic Orthodox Church????Even though he was a bishop in the Catholic Church. We have a priest in my diocese called Fr Augustinos!!!??? And HH has quoted him on many occations.
  • Zoxsasi,............................what are you talking about mate? Why do you always try and steer the topic away from the real issue and start to talk about something unrelated and to be honest a little pointless???? And i don't appreciate you ca…
  • Every Kebab shop in Australia which i have seen all sell Halal meat i was assuming that this is the same in America which is why i suggested it might not be an issue since it is fairly widespread. I have never thought of this subject until this thre…
  • Father, Would eating food offered to other Gods be considered the same as eating food "blessed" in the name of another God? I really don't think it would be considered an "offering"? BTW, I see you have referenced on a few occasions what the Ethiop…
  • I think this is a very big topic and many people have opinions...... I have found this bible reference which has clarified alot of things for me 1Co 10:28-33  But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of the …
  • Like i said in my previous post the term Halal does not refer to food which of offered to their God if it was why would it be labeled on the food the people eat???????? It is a term letting Muslims know that it does not contain anything against thei…
  • In Australia ALOT of products now carry the Halal Symbol. Everything from meats to Cadbury Chocolate and even noodles to the point where companies pay big money to the HALAL CERTIFICATION AUTHORITY AUSTRALIA to have it displayed on their products. I…
  • I don't think that food which is Halal should be considered "blessed" by any Christian. Who blessed it? who gave him the authority to bless? Certainly not OUR God, which is why i consider these prayers void of any real blessing or significance in my…
  • The two main differences in Mariology between the Catholic and the Orthodox Church, that i can think of are: 1.  Immaculate Conception St. Mary was born without original sin and was therefore sinless throughout her life.  This was made official b…
  • This video is titled Who Is Allah? it explains the foundations of Islam as a pagan religion so it cannot be similar to Christianity.

  • I don't think thats very appropriate trying to make the Lord's Prayer into a funny video....it is a prayer and not something to be made fun of......
  • I'm sorry but i don't understand? Why do you need to cover your head in order to remember God? Do you mean while you are praying?
  • 1Co 11:4  Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. 1Co 11:5  But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved. 1Co 11:6 …

  • I am very Skeptical when it comes to things like this. It kind of reminds me of the picture that went around a few years ago saying that pope kyrolos' body was still preserved and that the orbana he was holding was still warm........nonsense! [quote…
