Hey guys i wasn't on for a long time but i'm back again... i have a question about a greek orthodox chant... i really like it but i'm afraid there might be some discrepancies in theology... some translations call the Theotokos immaculate etc... so i'm not sure what do you think? link is below

  • Hey there,

In Kallistos Ware's book The Orthodox Church he says that the Orthodox address St. Mary as immaculate because she lived a perfect life on earth, not using it to refer to the immaculate conception.  His explanation is on pages 259 if you have access to the book.
  • I agree with the above post. Agni Parthene is a great hymn and by all means canonical.
  • thanks a lot :D thats what i thought i just wanted to make sure
