Following the Electoral Process

edited December 1969 in Random Issues
Hey guys,

I wish to follow the electoral process of our new Pope. Does anyone know a website or channel that will be posting the lists and the news of the election, in English?

Thanks

  • Whenever a press conference is broadcast it is spread online like wildfire. CYC generally takes the video and adds subs but that is done a little later.
  • Thanks Mina
  • Is it true that the Holy Synod has opened positions for Disocean Bishops to be nominated for the Papal seat? I know this against Church Canon why would they do this?

this is not something new. this is the way it was announced in the beginning.

So why would they release a statement that said no diocesen bishop can be elected?

Until now i havn't seen anything from the Synod as a whole to say that. I know LA diocese posted something online and also the Southern diocese posted something online....but those are the opinions of the bishops of the diocese and not the Synod.

I don't see why there is so much disagreement. Why would the diocese release a statement before the Holy Synod?
  • I am not getting what you mean. There aren't much disagreements. There is simply difference in understanding the canons.

Lol this is like loose and strict constitutionalism in us history
  • Peter,

The Holy Synod released statements long ago.

The statements were disseminated by the following hierarchs in Press Conferences that were televised on MarMorcos TV:

    1. H.B., Metropolitan Bakhomious--Patriarchal Locum Tenens
    2. H.E., Metropolitan Bishoy--Secretary of the Holy Synod
    3. H.G., Bishop Bula--Tanta
    4. H.G., Bishop Youssef--Southern USA
    5. H.G., Bishop Serapion--Los Angeles

Bps Youssef & Serapion were the ones that specifically gave the opines that were declared by the Holy Synod concerning the possibility and validity of the Diocesan (Geographically set) Bishops to be included in the possible nominees.

So far:  Metropolitan Bakhomious and Bp. Moussa have categorically excluded their names from the possibility in the process (this is by their own verbal declaration).

Do not believe Al-Ahram or any of the nationwide periodicals that claim to have lists or that bishops have self-nominated themselves.  Metropolitan Bakhomious has categorically stated that this is incorrect.
