Timidity and pride and humility

edited December 1969 in Personal Issues
Some people think humility is forgetting both your weakness and strength.... and that timidity comes from pride because you remember your weakness
or something like that??

Is that true? but dont we have to remember all our weakness so we feel like we are the worst of sinners?

  • If I had to place such expressions in the context of a few words I would attempt to explicate the terms as such;

    Humility is the realization that an overabundance of pride can be a perdition or an abasing of ones spirtual soul; it therfore the act of subjecting pride below one's feet. It is, in essence, defeating an infatuating desire for one's self.

    Pride is in the aceptance and aknowledgment of an individual's self and his faculties. Taken to an extreme it causes individuals to become egocentic and selfish creatures.

    Timidity is the very parralel opposite to pride in which there is little or, prhaps no self confidence. It is often associated within one's innate temperment. Left unresolved an excessive amount of timidity can cause one to lose all self-competence and shrivel away into despair.

    To answer your question defintively;

    The meek do not forget their own weeknesses nor their strengths. The humble take their strength and timidly present it before others and proudly present it before God. Their weekness is proudly presented before others and timidly presented before the Almighty.

    An person needs to hold enough pride to recognize that he is the God's child and is unique in God's eyes. Yet, in realizing that he is God's child the person needs to push down his pride and subject before God's will.
